Wolf Images provided by the family of Richard Edward Flauto, 1968-1999. "Richard was lionhearted. A late bloomer himself, he knew the importance of beautifying others and the confidence that would follow. With rare focus and enthusiasm, his heart song gathered and inspired everyone within his reach - especially animals.A remarkable athlete skilled to pursue medical training at age 22, Richard opted for the unconventional - he made a conscious decision to live freely, to honor the beat of his own drum. Animals were priority. The last four years of his life were dedicated to wildlife rescue. He studied them carefully and understood their needs. He dedicated all of his financial assets to accommodate his children, the animals. His extended family included wolves, cougars, and an African lioness. All were equally loved and cared for, as members of kin. Richard lived closely with his wolves. He possessed instincts that enabled him to dream their dreams, walk their trails and sing their songs. He taught those closest to him that the misguidance of stereotypes, human or wolf is dangerous and counterproductive to a growing spiritual mind. He spoke of how our most admirable human traits are demonstrated by the wolf’s ability to anticipate, to play, to sing and to also mourn. He shared that those living in close proximity would come to understand loyalty and grow to become better humans. It was no secret. Richard’s faith resided in the animals he cared for and he made a conscious decision to live and die freely by their side, within rare beauty and by example."
